Rochers de Naye has been on our bucket list for years. This year, however, we found ourselves in the right place at the right time when we decided to spend a week in Montreux, Switzerland.
On our first day in Montreux, we boarded the 09:19 rack and pinion train at Montreux station. Steadily climbing for 55 minutes to the 1600m to the summit passing villages and hamlets along the way with stunning scenery around every bend in the track. What really struck us was that for some people the journey is just that, a journey home or to work not a big thing off their bucket list at all!
The summit has commanding views over Lac Leman and the Swiss Alps. There is a restaurant at the top station which is perfectly placed for a coffee to give you energy to climb the surrounding trails. Make sure to visit the view point at the summit - you can have a seat, admire the surroundings and might have swooping house martins for company.
